The Santo Tirso International Guitar Festival had its first edition in 1994 and took place annually until 2018. Bringing all the world's notable guitarists to the city of Santo Tirso, this event has given stage to and helped train new Portuguese guitarists, generating an unparalleled dynamic around the exercise, pedagogy and enjoyment of this instrument. Working on the idea of return, they scrutinized the memories that marked generations of guitarists and gave the Festival the status of a reference in the panorama of this instrument.
This festival, an unmissable event during its lifetime, returns in a different format. The principles that have always guided its artistic direction are maintained: knowledge, the demand for quality, a democratic perspective on access to art and a holistic approach to the instrument. This edition aims to cross languages, promote encounters, open up spaces for digression, questioning and invention...
The Santo Tirso International Guitar Festival takes place from October 18 to 22, 2023, at the Santo Thyrso Factory.

O Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Santo Tirso teve a sua primeira edição em 1994 e ocorreu anualmente até 2018. Trazendo todos os guitarristas mundialmente notáveis à cidade de Santo Tirso, este evento deu palco e ajudou a formar novos guitarristas portugueses, gerando uma dinâmica inigualável em torno do exercício, de pedagogia e da fruição deste instrumento. Laborando sobre a ideia de retorno, perscrutaram as memórias que marcaram gerações de guitarristas e conferiram ao Festival o estatuto de referência no panorama deste instrumento.
Este festival, um acontecimento imperdível durante a sua vigência, regressa num formato diferente. Mantêm-se os princípios que sempre nortearam a sua direção artística: o saber, a exigência de qualidade, a perspetiva democrática sobre o acesso à arte e a abordagem holística ao instrumento. Nesta edição pretende-se cruzar linguagens, promover encontros, abrir espaços para a divagação, o questionamento e a invenção…”
O Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Santo Tirso decorre de 18 a 22 de outubro de 2023, na Fábrica de Santo Thyrso.
