This year brings us the 8th edition of DDD and a special moment in history — from here on, they celebrate freedom. In the certainty that there is always a before and after, this edition starts from the voice, from the voices, to test other ways of being on stage, of experiencing dance in various spaces and formats. They have redefined the limits of what dance can be, reformatting how it can be experienced. They rewrite narratives, unraveling how they can be shared and by whom.
More than ever, DDD sees itself as a festival that co-produces new creations, giving space to the teeming artistic communities both here in Portugal and from countries across the world.
They don't do anything alone: more and more, they work with partner venues and festivals so that each performance echos elsewhere. After all, revolutions are made collectively, and in movement.
Can we hear the sound of movement?
Can we smell the revolution?
Can we taste the crowd?
Can we see what's happening?
In 2024, dance pieces can also be concerts, movement scores can be parties. And at a party, we can be whoever we want.
We will walk to the sound of revolutions past, present, and future, allowing ourselves the time we need to witness them; and we will feed on them. There will even be time to sleep on them, with them, building them in our collective slumber. What will the dawn witness?
May the DDD continue to inspire, challenge and unite, renewing this commitment to freedom. For this, we thank the team, for believing in new formats…

Este ano traz-nos a 8ª edição do DDD e um momento especial na história — a partir daqui, celebram a liberdade. Na certeza de que há sempre um antes e um depois, esta edição parte da voz, das vozes, para testar outras formas de estar em palco, de vivenciar a dança em vários espaços e formatos. Redefiniram limites do que a dança pode ser, reformatando como ela pode ser experienciada. Reescrevem narrativas, desentranhando como elas podem, e por quem, ser partilhadas.
Mais do que nunca, o DDD assume-se como um festival que coproduz novas criações, dando espaço à fervilhante comunidade artística que vive em Portugal e trazendo até cá artistas estrangeiros e estrangeiras.
Não fazem de forma individual: cada vez mais, trabalham com espaços e festivais parceiros, dentro e fora do país, para que cada peça que apresentam seja também apresentada noutros locais, ecoando. Afinal, as revoluções são feitas em coletivo e em movimento.
Conseguimos ouvir o som do movimento?
Conseguimos ver o cheiro da revolução?
Conseguimos sentir o paladar da multidão?
Conseguimos ver o que está a acontecer?
Em 2024, as peças de dança também podem ser concertos e as partituras de movimento podem ser festas. E, em festa, podemos ser quem nós quisermos.
Iremos caminhar ao som de revoluções, permitindo-nos o tempo que precisamos para testemunhá-las; e delas, nos alimentaremos. Haverá mesmo tempo para dormir sobre elas, com elas, construindo-as nesse sono, em coletivo. O que testemunhará a madrugada?
Que o DDD continue a inspirar, desafiar e unir, renovando este compromisso de liberdade…
